Royal Wedding: A guide to William and Kate’s friends and family

The Bride
Prince William’s fiancee, Kate Middleton, was born on Jan. 9, 1982. She attended St. Andrews University in Scotland, where she studied art history. The couple dated and lived together for several years before William proposed in October 2010. After one breakup, she reportedly caught the prince’s eye during a fashion show in 2002 when she modeled a slinky dress that later sold for $125,884 at auction. Middleton, who has no royal lineage, is considered a commoner. After the marriage, she will be given a new title if William is given a title as duke or earl. The Maid of Honor

The Groom’s Father
William’s father Prince Charles, whose full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, is the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He is the oldest of their four children -- Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Charles, who was married to and divorced William’s mother Lady Diana Spencer, remarried Camilla Parker Bowles several year’s after Diana’s death in a car accident in 1997. The Groom’s Stepmother

The Bride’s Parents
Kate Middleton’s parents, Michael Francis and Carole Elizabeth Middleton, have two other children, Phillipa Charlotte and James. The couple met when they were working as flight attendants for British Airways. He was later promoted to flight dispatcher and the couple married in the 1970s. They became wealthy businesspeople after they launched Party Pieces, a children’s partyware business in 1987.
