Here are some of the local wrestling highlights from this past weekend:
-- Laguna Hills, the top-ranked team in Southern Section Division II, got off to a strong start with a runaway victory at the Carter Invitational. The Hawks finished with 302 points, followed by Northview with 252 and Redlands East Valley with 178.
-- Ventura, ranked No. 6 in Division III, downed Bishop Amat, the top-ranked team in Division V, 40-33, in the championship of the Downey duals. The Cougars also beat Fountain Valley, Downey and Glenn en route to the title match.
-- The Eisenhower Inland Empire Championships saw two of the top-ranked Division VI teams finish in first and second place, with third-ranked San Jacinto edging second-ranked Magnolia, 239-237.5. Perris, ranked No. 10 in the same division, was third with 166 points.
