American Tourister to Be Bought by Luggage Rival: Hillenbrand Industries Inc. said it agreed to sell the luggage company to privately held Astrum International Corp. of New York--maker of Samsonite luggage--for $70 million. American Tourister, with about 1,200 employees, is based in Warren, R.I., but Hillenbrand had already planned to shift the unit’s operations to Jacksonville, Fla.
