Hughes Aircraft Faces Diversity Complaint: The NAACP reportedly is accusing El Segundo-based Hughes of not hiring enough blacks, in violation of federal rules that require government contractors to diversify their work force. The complaints are expected to be outlined today by the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People at a press conference in Washington, the New York Times reported. Hughes denied the accusations. Spokesman Richard Dore said in an interview that 9.1% of Hughes’ 55,000 U.S. workers are black and more than 30% are minorities overall.
