A 70-year-old woman remained in critical condition Sunday after she was struck in the head by a stray bullet intended for a gunman’s girlfriend.
Margaret D. Dunn of Los Angeles was shot as she drove south near the 9800 block of Normandie Avenue about 7 p.m. Friday, said sheriff’s Deputy Diane Hecht.
Officials at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center said there had been no change in Dunn’s condition after surgery Friday evening.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Elliott York, 29, of Los Angeles and booked him on suspicion of attempted murder.
York was shooting at his girlfriend “when the errant round struck” Dunn, Hecht said.
York was being held on $1 million bail at the Sheriff’s Department’s Lennox station.
