From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Wind and rain pummeled two hot-air balloons, killing six people and injuring 11 more. In the first accident, a balloon was flying near Aspen at about 100 feet when a gust of air slammed it into a high-tension fence, officials said. The basket was severed from the balloon, and all six people aboard were killed. Five minutes later, in the same area, bad weather forced a second balloon to the ground, tipping over the basket and spilling out the passengers. Seven people suffered major injuries, and four had minor injuries.
