Silent Shorts to Screen at Academy Theater

A 90-minute program of silent short films from the late 19th and early 20th Century will be shown at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Aug. 19-20 at 6:30 and 9 p.m. in the Academy Little Theater, 8949 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.
Films by French pioneer Georges Melies, Auguste and Louis Lumiere, and a number of very rare “paper prints” will be included in the presentation. Tickets for the screenings are $5 for the public and $3 for academy members.
