In response to “And 5,700 Got a Permanent Holiday” (July 15):
According to my calculations, the $23.3 million in cash benefits, plus the cost of one day off for these 93,000 “BankAmericans” (which at an average $100 per person would be $9.3 million) adds up to a total of $32.6 million.
I estimate that at a salary of $30,000 per year, this sum would cover the employment of at least 1,000 people. Perhaps they should “bank on America,” as their ads say, by offering loans to any of the 5,700 Security Pacific employees who may need one.
