World IN BRIEF : ITALY : Four Accused in Plot to Smuggle Arms

Italian police in Rome said they have arrested four foreigners after uncovering an alleged plot to smuggle sophisticated arms worth $75 million from Eastern Europe to the Middle East. The four, three nationals of the former Yugoslav federation and a Briton, are said to have signed a contract to supply arms to two unnamed Middle Eastern countries subject to Western arms embargoes.
