Magers Leaving Corona del Mar

Scott Magers has resigned as Corona del Mar’s varsity baseball coach after four seasons.
The Sea Kings were 13-11 last season but failed to make the Southern Section playoffs after qualifying two of the previous three years. Magers is pursuing an assistant coach’s job at Chapman University.

Los Alamitos’ Janie Eickhoff, 23, qualified fifth in the three-kilometer individual pursuit at the World Cycling Championships in Oslo, Norway.
Eickhoff clocked 3 minutes 40.468 seconds. The top U.S. qualifier was Seattle’s Rebecca Twigg (3:39.618), who qualified second. Twigg beat Eickhoff in last year’s National Championships final.
The leading qualifier was France’s Marion Clignet (3:38.649).

Ian Feuer, the Salsa’s starting goalkeeper, may not play against Montreal and Toronto next week because of a knee sprain, according to team doctor Thomas Saucedo.
In addition, back-up goalkeeper Mike Littman will be out at least three weeks due to a sprained angle, Saucedo said. Feuer and Littman were injured during practice this week.
