Concern for Cuts in Library Funds
* Many people are deeply concerned about the cut in funds for libraries. When the El Toro library is open only a few days per week (as I am sure is true of other libraries), it seems very nearly catastrophic.
We decry the children in the street with nothing to do. At least some of these children would be in a library if it were open.
I called the Friends of the Library in Orange County hoping that they could start a drive for funds. They are fund raising for a new library in Mission Viejo. That, when no funds are available to buy new books or maintain staff for the libraries we have.
What can be done? I appeal to book-lovers and to all people who are interested in education. Please, let’s do something.
