From Times staff reports
A private security guard was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony cruelty to an animal after he allegedly beat a pregnant opossum to death with a flashlight behind a drugstore, Tustin police said.
Michael S. Elliston, 20, of Whittier knocked the animal off a wall behind a store near El Camino Real and Red Hill Avenue, then beat it to death although it posed no danger to anyone, said Sgt. Tom Tarpley.
County animal control officers performed a necropsy and found the animal pregnant, Tarpley said.
