Police are searching for a truckload of nitric acid stolen from a business Monday.
The acid was in five 100-pound canisters on the back of a truck at 535 W. 152nd St., said LAPD Cmdr. Garrett Zimmon. The acid was described as highly corrosive and dangerous to people on contact. It was not known whether the thief knew what the truck’s cargo was.
The chemical, commonly known as engraver’s acid, was in metal containers 20 inches high and about a foot wide. The truck is a white Chevrolet with California license plate 5T68532. The company name “Dacco” was painted on one truck doors. Anyone with information is asked to call (213) 485-2507 or the LAPD’s 24-hour toll-free number, (877) LAWFULL.
