Indian Artifacts Cloud Sale of Gannett Property
- Share via
The Gannett Co., the nation’s largest newspaper publisher, is selling 15 acres in Novato, but the discovery of Indian artifacts on the land could make it difficult for buyers to develop the property.
The land, which surrounds the headquarters of the Marin Independent Journal newspaper on three sides, is located in the city’s Ignacio area west of U.S. 101, about 30 miles north of San Francisco.
It was once part of the 28-acre parcel purchased for the newspaper’s grounds.
Gannett owned the newspaper until October 2000.
