Goalies Possible Trade Bait

ST. PAUL, Minn. — General Manager Pierre Gauthier says he will pursue a top player or two, either through free agency or a trade, this off-season. Sounds good, but as far as a trade is concerned, the Ducks are limited in what they can offer.
One area, though, where they have some depth is in goal.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere is fulfilling the promise that made him a first-round draft pick in 1995. Steve Shields has been solid, with only Giguere’s play keeping him from being in the lineup regularly. And coming up behind them is 21-year-old Ilja Bryzgalov, who is living up to the rave reviews he drew when the Ducks drafted him in the third round of the 2000 draft.
Bryzgalov, playing for minor league Cincinnati, has a 1.31 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage in his last seven starts.
