Updating of Devotional Is Politically Incorrect

Re “Updating Words of Comfort to Warriors,” Jan. 5:
So, a 16-year-old Boy Scout from Orange spent three years updating and diversifying a 1940s devotional for American service members titled “Strength for Service to God and Country.” Talk about being out of touch with reality--1940? Don’t the Scouts realize how much this country has evolved in 60 years? A selection from this religious tome for Sept. 11, 1940, reads in part: “It chooses men like the apostles who, after being treated in a most shameful way and cruelly flogged, came from that experience rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Christ.” How quaint. How anachronistic. How politically incorrect. No wonder the Boy Scouts have so many political enemies.
