Carlyle Connections

“Arms Buildup Is a Boon to Firm Run by Big Guns” (Jan. 10) illustrates how prescient President Eisenhower was when he warned the country about the military-industrial complex. In a woeful understatement, the Carlyle Group’s one-day profit of $237 million was attributed to, among other things, “excellent connections” and “strategic lobbying.” Is there no morality when the father of a president is on the payroll of one of the nation’s largest U.S. defense investment firms? For shame!
