Silent on a Silent Theater
I was hardly surprised to see a well-deserved article on the revival of silent movies (“Silents Golden Again,” Jan. 11), but I was very surprised not to see mention of the famed Silent Movie Theater, since 1942 as much a landmark on Fairfax Avenue as Canter’s Deli and the Farmers Market.
After all, it’s the only one like it in America, with a fascinating history of its own. It offers comfortable seats combined with period-piece music and a wide cross-section of patrons.
