Fox Was a Magical Place for Watching Movies
- Share via
Re “Has the Fox Had Its Last Act?,” Jan. 7: The Fox Theatre was an important part of my childhood. It was there that I saw “Shane,” “Ivanhoe” and many other movies as a young girl. The movies were wondrous, but so were the murals, the red velvet curtains and the gilt ornamentation of the theater. I often tell others about the Fox Theatre, sharing memories of its grandeur and its effect on me. Going to a movie there was like entering a magical place. There are few movie theaters like it today.
The city must act to save this theater. Plummer Auditorium has its own purpose, but it does not have the grandeur of the old Fox Theater.
