A man suspected of fatally shooting a woman in 1987 in Long Beach over a drug squabble has been extradited from Arizona, police said.
Jose Barragan, 42, arrived in Long Beach on Wednesday, almost 15 years after he allegedly killed 31-year-old Debra Pilato in a home in the 2400 block of Pasadena Avenue, said Long Beach Police Officer David Marander.
Police said that Barragan shot Pilato when he went to the home looking for two men, who were not there.
Police said they think Barragan fled to Mexico. In September 2000, Arizona authorities arrested Barragan after he tried to enter the United States illegally, Marander said. He will be arraigned today in Long Beach.
