Man Dies, Woman Hurt in Car Crash

A 43-year-old Newport Coast man driving with a suspended license was killed and his female passenger injured early Friday when he lost control of a 1996 Corvette and struck a tree, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, died at the scene from head injuries. The passenger, 36, was treated for a fractured finger.
