Ex-Band Staffer Faces Underage-Sex Charges

A former Capistrano Valley High School band coordinator was charged this week with having sex with a student when she was 15, police said Friday.
Paul Smietan, 40, of Rancho Santa Margarita faces several counts of sex acts with a minor, Orange County sheriff’s spokesman Jon Fleischman said. Smietan was released Thursday from the Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail.
