Ex-School Official Charged in Sex Case

A former Capistrano Valley High School band coordinator was charged this week with having sex with a student when she was 15, police said Friday. Paul Smietan, 40, of Rancho Santa Margarita faces several counts of sex acts with a minor, Orange County sheriff’s spokesman Jon Fleischman said. He was released Thursday from County Jail on $50,000 bail.
