Southeast Asian leaders, stung by the possibility of plunging tourism and investment, pledged stronger action against terrorists.
In a statement ahead of today’s opening of the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital, they said: “We resolve to intensify our efforts ... to prevent, counter and suppress the activities of terrorist groups.”
Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said that could include joint military efforts.
Also on ASEAN’s agenda is a possible response to North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
