Piece by Piece of Litter, Disrespect Piles Up
- Share via
Is it just me, or are our highways filthy? For many months now I have been acutely aware of the enormous amount of wastepaper, containers and even furniture dumped at the side of our freeways. My guess is that the garbage is piling up faster than the Adopt-a-Highway folks can clean it up. As I showed a friend from the East Coast around our county recently, I was embarrassed by the condition of our roadsides. It saddens me that we have so little respect for the beauty of our home.
With the gargantuan problems facing our nation and the world today, this may seem a petty gripe. But if we cannot even respect ourselves and our own environment, how on Earth can we hope to respect others?
