The Florida Panthers made sure Mario Lemieux didn’t spoil their night.
Valeri Bure scored at 2:19 of overtime and the Panthers overcame a late goal by Lemieux to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3, Wednesday night at Sunrise, Fla.
Bure took a pass from Kristian Huselius and squeezed the puck past Johan Hedberg on the right side for a power-play goal, ending the Penguins’ four-game winning streak.
The Panthers appeared headed for a win in regulation until Lemieux, the NHL’s leading scorer with 29 points, tied the score, 3-3, with nine seconds left the third period.
Roberto Luongo stopped 26 shots for the second victory of his career in nine starts against the Penguins.
Dallas 4, Vancouver 0 -- Mike Modano had two goals and an assist, and Brenden Morrow scored on a penalty shot to help the Stars hand the Canucks their first road loss.
Marty Turco stopped 26 shots for the Stars.
Ottawa 5, Colorado 2 -- Marian Hossa scored three goals -- the second hat trick of his career -- and Daniel Alfredsson had a goal and two assists as the Senators dropped the Avalanche to 0-3-3 at home.
Magnus Arvedson also scored and Patrick Lalime had 36 saves for Ottawa, which extended its franchise record by scoring a power-play goal in its ninth consecutive game.
