The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an 11-month-old Tustin boy who crawled unseen into his family’s swimming pool and drowned Saturday.
Paul Peralta, who lived in the 18000 block of Vanderlip Avenue, was discovered by his parents shortly after they noticed he was missing. He was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana at 5:15 p.m., according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators said the boy’s mother had a migraine headache and went to lie down, leaving the boy in a room with two siblings.
“The baby slipped out, crawled down the hallway, out the door and was found in the pool,” said Sheriff’s Lt. David Wilson. “This is not a matter of neglect as far as we can tell,” Wilson said. “The investigation is continuing.”
The boy was found by his father, who attempted to perform CPR, Wilson said.
