Security Guard Shot to Death at Party

A security guard screening partygoers at a rave in the 6000 block of Broadway was fatally shot early Sunday by a man who was denied entrance, police said.
John Henry Smith, 33, of Hawaiian Gardens, was shot once in the face by a gunman who was turned away at the door, Det. Elizabeth Rico said.
The gunman quickly fled the scene and remains at large, Rico said.
A coroner’s official said Smith died at Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center.
