A new sculpture at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City portrays Charlton Heston in his role in the 1968 Western “Will Penny.”
Heston starred as a cowboy-loner in the movie, which was honored at the 1969 Western Heritage Awards.
The statue, donated by members of the National Rifle Assn. and unveiled this week, shows Heston holding a lariat in one hand and a rifle in the other. Heston has been president of the gun-rights group since 1998.
