Chris Hurtado rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown in 11 carries and Jody Adewale rushed for 70 yards and a score for fifth-seeded L.A. Roosevelt during a 14-11 victory over 12th-seeded San Pedro in a City Championship first-round playoff game that was completed Friday after a power outage on Thursday forced suspension of play.
Hurtado broke loose for several long gains, the longest of which was a 49-yard scoring run that gave the host Rough Riders (10-1) a 7-3 lead with 2:36 to go in the third quarter.
San Pedro (8-3) pulled to within the final margin on a 31-yard scoring reception by John Whitt and a two-point conversion run with nine minutes to play.
The Pirates drove 50 yards in 10 plays on their final possession to the Roosevelt nine-yard line. With 25 seconds left, quarterback Steve Taylor scrambled eight yards on a broken play to the one-yard line but fumbled when he was tackled.
