Five Student Leaders Arrested After Protests

Five student leaders who organized large protests denouncing a history professor’s death sentence were arrested in Tehran, students and officials said.
The arrests came amid mounting confusion over the fate of professor Hashem Aghajari.
While judiciary officials have said they will review the case -- as ordered by Iran’s supreme leader -- Chief Prosecutor Ayatollah Abdonnabi Namazi said the verdict would stand unless Aghajari appeals by Tuesday. He has refused, challenging the judiciary to carry out the sentence.
