Mortgage Rates Edge Higher

The average interest rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose to 6.13% this week from 6.03% the previous week, mortgage company Freddie Mac reported.
Rates for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages, a popular option or refinancing, rose to 5.57%, up from last week’s rate of 5.44%. For one-year adjustable-rate mortgages, rates increased to 4.19% from 4.14% last week.
These rates do not include add-on fees known as points. The 30-year mortgage loans carried an average fee of 0.6 point this week, while 15-year mortgages and 1-year ARMs each carried an average fee of 0.5 point.
