From Times Staff Reports
Ventura County supervisors agreed this week to expand the Simi Valley Landfill and allow it to receive garbage for another 31 years.
The landfill was scheduled to close in 20 months but the new operating permit, approved Tuesday, will allow it to remain open until at least 2034.
Operator Waste Management Inc. will purchase a 26-acre parcel next to the dump, expanding the capacity of the current operation.
