Teen Pleads No Contest to 2nd-Degree Murder

A Pacoima teenager charged with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy near Kennedy High School in Granada Hills pleaded no contest Tuesday to second-degree murder.
Hector Ramirez, 17, is one of two defendants in the Sept. 13, 2001, slaying of Ricardo Lloyd. Ramirez, who was charged as an adult, will face a maximum term of 35 years to life in state prison when he is sentenced Oct. 25.
Lloyd was walking home with friends when he was approached by the defendant and another teen. He was shot at close range.
