UC Sees Sharp Rise in Reported Assaults

Reported sexual crimes and aggravated assaults more than doubled at UC Davis last year compared to the previous year.
Forcible sex offenses jumped from 18 in 2000 to 48 in 2001, while reported aggravated assaults rose from 13 to 25. Officials say the leap is probably caused by more people reporting crime rather than an increase.
