Merits of Golf Cart Path
While I may agree with your “no” recommendation on Proposition 51 (editorial, Oct. 4), please do not use the golf cart path for Leisure World residents as part of your ammunition.
Southern California has not been very friendly over the years to nonpolluting travelers such as Red Car riders, pedestrians, bicyclists and Leisure World seniors. That is one reason why our air is so polluted and our streets are so congested.
If seniors collectively choose to maintain their mobility with zero-emission golf carts or neighborhood electric vehicles, should we not encourage that?
In this instance Proposition 51 addresses a need that conventional thinking may overlook. With any luck, you and I will reach an age where that dedicated path is important to our mobility, safety and well-being.
