U.S. homeowners last week filed the most refinancing applications in more than a decade, which will put more cash in their pockets to spend, save or pay off debt. The Mortgage Bankers Assn. of America’s index for applications to refinance mortgages rose 3.8% to 6926.9, the highest since the group began keeping records in 1990.
