Cemetery Is Declared Historical Monument

The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to designate Westwood Village Memorial Park as a historic-cultural monument.
The cemetery, near UCLA, is the burial ground of entertainers including Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Billy Wilder.
The designation means that applications for building permits will require review by the city’s Cultural Heritage Commission.
Service Corp. International, which owns the cemetery, plans to expand crypt space.
