Measure K: LAUSD Cannot Be Trusted
I find it difficult to believe that the L.A. Unified School District will make the right decision if the bond issue passes (editorial, Oct. 17). Obviously, no one at The Times who endorsed Measure K has driven down Soto Street and noticed the LAUSD’s District F office. Every day for the past 25 years I’ve driven by it on the way to my school. The district office has been upgraded and beautifully painted three times. My school, a few miles down the road, in a high-density poverty area, has never been painted.
I only wish that the district would make our school as beautiful as it did its district office. On behalf of my kids, my question is, if the district can find money to paint its office three times, why can’t it find the money to paint my school, just once?
