Trailing, 6-0, after two, the Angels had crept back into the game and were down by only two when Jeff Kent hit a two-out, two-run homer in the sixth to give the Giants an 8-4 lead. They never looked back from that point, as Kent added another two-run home run in the Giants’ four-run seventh inning.

With Kevin Appier and Ramon Ortiz scheduled for Games 6 and 7, the Angels needed a big game from their ace, Jarrod Washburn. They didn’t get it. Washburn gave up six runs, six hits and five walks in four innings and didn’t fool any of the Giant hitters. His poor outing also taxed the Angel bullpen.

After the first three games of the World Series, the Angels were hitting .353 and averaging eight runs a game. Many were comparing them to the greatest offenses in World Series history. In the last two games, the Angels are hitting .286 and have scored a combined seven runs. Fans of the ’27 Yankees can rest easy.

J.T Snow made the play of the Series in the seventh inning. He saved Dusty Baker’s son from serious injury when he scooped him up while scoring. Baker’s son, only 3 years old, had run out to get the bat and ran right into the middle of the play. Baker didn’t seem too concerned by the incident, but it was a scary moment.
