Enron Dealings Akin to Acts of Terrorism

Regarding “New Tapes Reveal More Evidence of Power Scheming by Enron,” June 15:
If a small group of terrorists tried to deliberately disrupt power to many Western states, to cause confusion and hardship and place citizens’ lives in danger, these people would be apprehended, held in secret, with no legal counsel -- all perfectly legitimate under the Patriot Act.
There is strong evidence to suggest that Enron Corp. did that very thing.
Therefore I assume Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft will immediately issue arrest warrants for all Enron suspects, with no bail, no legal representation, and put these folks in a secret prison for interrogation, with no time frame for their release.

Californians should not take lightly Enron’s manipulating of the energy market in 2000 and 2001.
Enron’s fraudulent scheme cheated our state out of billions of dollars. It adds insult to injury to think that those deviant traders actually laughed about “stealing” from Californians and causing blackouts.
Under the circumstances, California has every right to cancel long-term contracts signed during the energy crisis.
