Time to Let Principles Guide Our Spending

“Will Female Shoppers Stray?” (July 4), which indicates that shoppers are unwilling to follow their principles by shopping in stores that treat their employees and suppliers with dignity and decent pay, saddened me.
Only by putting our money where are mouths are do we, as consumers, have any power to effect change. The price savings at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are not significant enough to sell our souls. We can simply shop elsewhere.
We need to start acting on our principles, or we will always be at someone’s mercy.
