Ventura County sheriff’s deputies shot and wounded a 29-year-old man early Wednesday after he pulled a gun and opened fire on officers during a foot chase, authorities said.
Jeb Temple of Ventura was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The incident began when deputies responded to a disturbance call about 12:30 a.m. on Norway Drive near Ventura Avenue, authorities said. Temple immediately fled on foot.
At one point, authorities said, Temple pulled a gun and fired at the deputies, prompting the officers to return fire. The shooting is under investigation.
