Hawk served at this restaurant

I want to thank Howard Leff for putting my dilemma into brilliant prose (“Dinner and a Movie? I’m Free After Nov. 2,” July 8).
Please do not take your gal to Mrs. Olson’s restaurant in Oxnard on a Sunday morning. I found out that every Sunday, the owner goes into the middle of the room and bellows out a pro-war speech, plays “God Bless America” over a boombox, insists that patrons all sing along, and brings out his wait staff to lock arms and sway back and forth. The speech was certainly offensive to those of us who are passionately against the war in Iraq.
The Republican potential love of my life was quiet as I spouted my disgust outside the restaurant, but he gave me a polite kiss goodbye. I never heard from him again.
