Police Fatally Shoot Man Suspected of Beating Son

Maywood police Sunday shot and killed a man suspected of beating his 9-year-old son after the man reached for an officer’s gun, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Michael Dale Anderson Jr., 39, was pronounced dead at the scene, a residence in the 4400 block of Clara Street in Cudahy, at about 2 a.m. Anderson’s son was treated at a hospital for a possible broken nose and abrasions to the neck and shoulders.
The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department, said Deputy Lewis Castro.
