From Times Staff Reports
A leak in a waste-water line Monday spilled five gallons of untreated sewage into Poche Creek and closed Poche Beach, county health officials said.
“It’s not a lot [of waste] but, unfortunately, it’s right there at the beach,” said spokeswoman Monica Mazur of Orange County Environmental Health Services.
Officials are scheduled to take water samples today and will reopen the beach when bacterial levels are safe, Mazur said.
