Rapist to Be Freed From Mental Hospital

Convicted rapist Patrick Ghilotti has been cleared for release by a Marin County judge and will walk out of the state’s mental hospital “at the earliest possible time,” according to the judge’s order.
Ghilotti, 48, will become the third sexually violent predator released from the state’s mandatory treatment program since it began at Atascadero State Hospital in 1997.
Ghilotti will move to Vacaville, where his wife, a former Atascadero staffer, lives and where neighbors already have protested.
Police and city officials Thursday expressed frustration at not being notified that Ghilotti’s release had been approved.
