City’s Growth Rate Is Highest in State
This city’s population grew 27% in the last year, more than any other in the state, according to the California Department of Finance.
The Sacramento suburb’s population increased to 109,100.
Most of the growth came from the city’s annexation of Laguna West in December, a nearly completely built community of about 13,000 people.
Without annexing Laguna West, the city would have grown about 11%. That still would have placed it sixth on the list of fastest-growing cities.
California’s population increased by 532,000 people to 36.1 million, a 1.5% increase.
