Veterans Affairs Plans $6-Billion Restructuring

The Veterans Affairs Department will spend $6.1 billion over the next seven years to improve medical care for veterans in a nationwide restructuring.
Veterans Affairs Secretary Anthony Principi said the percentage of veterans using VA health care is expected to increase from 28% today to 30% in 2012 and 33% in 2022.
Las Vegas and Orlando, Fla., will see hospitals built as part of the VA’s plan. Denver’s aging VA medical center will be replaced. Three hospitals in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Mississippi will close.
