BASEBALL
* Steve Matlaro, La Puente Bishop Amat: Pitched a seven-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and Matt Lawhorn had two triples and drove in two runs in an 8-4 Serra League upset of No. 9 Santa Margarita. The host Lancers finished third in league, knocking off idle No. 18 Anaheim Servite to clinch the final playoff spot from the league.
* Dan Contreras, Corona Santiago: Was three for four with seven RBIs, including a bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning, for the No. 21 Sharks, who won their second straight league crown with a 12-6 Mountain View League victory over visiting Mira Loma Jurupa Valley.
* Jason Breckley, Moorpark: Pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts, and Nick Dingman and Ryne Intlekofer each had a double and one run batted in for the No. 16 Musketeers in a 4-1 Marmonte League victory over visiting Agoura.
SOFTBALL
* Christine Craighead and Veronica Barth, West Hills Chaminade: Craighead had a two-run double, Barth threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts, and Lauren Christie hit a solo home run for the No. 25 Eagles in a 4-1 Mission League victory over Mission Hills Alemany.
BOYS’ TENNIS
* Josh Lederman, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: Won the Mission League individual championship, defeating teammate Jon Greenberg, 7-5, 6-3, at Studio City Golf and Tennis. Lederman beat Bryan Ross of L.A. Loyola, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4, in the semifinals.
